To the Romanesque monument (guided visit)
perched at the altitude of 1055 m. Afternoon trip to a watchtower
with 360° views over mountains, valleys and (if lucky) the sea.
D3 - GORGES of CARANÇA
Dramatic trail into the gorges along vertiginous cliffs. Crossing of river
on suspended bridges & “passerelles”. Great fun! Afternoon break at hot springs in an open air swimming pool.
D4 - BALCONY of the TET VALLEY
Unique trip to Mont-Louis on the legendary “Petit Train Jaune” (highest railway line in France). Outstanding walk across the mountain ridge to Olette along the spectacular “Route of the Canons”.
D5 - DAY OFF
Highly recommended: visit of the medieval town of Villefranche de Conflent (on the list of the UNESCO) set on the historical Way of St James.
D6 - AROUND VILLEFRANCHE de CONFLENT
Round walk over the Cadi valley, facing the beautiful Massif of Canigou. Romanesque church, quiet little village and 3500 years old dolmen on a hill.
D7 - ABBEY St MICHEL de CUIXA
& the OLD IRON MINES
To the vestiges of the mining industry
hidden in forests. After lunch in a local
"bistrot de pays", visit of the emblematic
abbey St Michel, cradle of Catalunya.
D8 - DEPARTURE
Transfer back to airport.
