a protected area and one of the most characteristic landmarks of Catalunya.
Walking to the top
(2784 m) is a "must" for every visitor of
the region and is considered an obligatory pilgrimage by every Catalan.
The TOUR of CANIGOU
Classic trail around the mountain range
The walks visit the main valleys of the range, Vallespir and Conflent,
and provide a great variety of lanscapes. There are sweeping views all
the way over the Pyrenees, the plain, hills and villages of Roussillon and the Mediterranean coastline.
4 nature reserves offer a wide collection of flora. Wild life is also present: marmotte, dear, "isard", mouflon, squirrel and rare birds of prey.

D1 - MONASTERY St MARTIN du CANIGOU
Welcoming at accommodation. Afternoon walk to the Romanesque site
(altitude: 1055 m) or visit to Villefranche de Conflent.
D2 - BALCONY of the TET VALLEY
Lovely trip on the legendary “Petit Train Jaune" to Mont-
Louis. Descent along historical paths back to Olette.
D3 - GORGES of CARANÇA
Vertiginous cliffs, crossings of river on suspended bridges. Lots of fun!
Optional visit to hot springs of St Thomas
D4 - PEAK of CANIGOU
Transfer on 4x4 taxi to refuge of Cortalets. Ascension of the magic mountain.
